THE COOPERAGE Berwick upon Tweed
Originally built in 1736, as the living quarters for the adjoining cooperage (barrel makers), this property provides sumptuous holiday accommodation over the first and second floors of a magnificent townhouse.
It was, for a time, the home of Alexander Knox, a well-known Hollywood actor and his wife, Doris Nolan, also a famous actress. Now fully modernised but retaining many original features it is located in the heart of Berwick upon Tweed and has off street parking for one vehicle.
The accommodation is on the first and second floors. Climbing the internal staircase to the first floor brings you to the bright and spacious comfortable lounge with two matching sofas, TV and DVD, laminate floor and original shuttered windows. The dining room is identical to the lounge and contains regency style dining table and chairs together with other furniture. The kitchen (accessible directly from the dining room or the hallway, is fully equipped with oven and hob, washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave, together with a full complement of crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and pots and pans.
On the second floor are two large bedrooms, one with double bed, bedroom furniture and TV, the other with twin beds and bedroom furniture.
The bathroom contains a bath, basin and WC suite in white, a walk in shower enclosure with electric shower, and a mirrored bathroom cabinet.
The house contains a small set of patio furniture which may be used on the land outside the front door. |
